Select side hinged garage door, Woodley, Stockport

Here’s a recent installation by our team of a pair of side hinged doors made by Select and installed by Pennine Garage Doors. The customer in Woodley, Stockport chose the door in black which adds some contrast to the white on the house.

The old door that was replaced had become awkward to use and the customer wanted something simple and easy to operate. As you can see by the photos, we started by removing the old door safely so that we had an empty brickwork opening. We then clean up the brickwork of any old paint and sealants.

Most types of garage doors need to be fitted level, but we often find that garage floors are rarely perfect, there are solutions to this and on this job we installed the door onto an alluminium threshold. This is a sturdy strip that runs across the floor that the door sits on. It is levelled from the highest end of the floor and then the gap between the floor and threshold is pointed in with a solid concrete mix and ramped up so there is no trip hazard. This helps to create a nice level surface for the door to sit on whilst keeping the gap under the door to a mimimum.

Select side hinged doors are made from steel and are very sturdy and secure. The locking systems is easy to use and bolts lock in at the top and bottom of the door. Door-stays are also provided, so that when you open the door, it will stay open until you are ready to release the door-stays.
