A recent job by ourselves at Pennine Garage Doors for a customer in the Wirral. Made by Teckentrup who we have a long good relationsip with, these doors ooze quality.

Chosen in blue to replace the previous timber doors that had got awkward to use. Timber doors often swell with our sudden changes in weather and frames rot over the years. This new pair of side hinge doors will not have those issues. The doors come in their own steel frame and are like a composite door, solid, insulated and highly secure. Each time you close these doors, they shut with a reassuring click.

The locking mechanism is both highly secure, simple to use and there are no gaps to tamper with the door like with timber ones. We also installed this door onto an alluminium floor threshold. Which gives the door a level platform and further reduces gaps underneath the door. It also keeps the weather out.

As you can see from the before and after pictures. The old door and frame is first removed and the empty opening cleaned up ready for the new door. We removed the feature above the door to create more height for the new door. We then capped everything off neatly with uPVC in white to frame the doors nicely. Then the job is neatly sealed up with suitable coloured silicone.

This new Teckentrup door and frame wont need painting, just washing with warm soapy water will keep it like new. The old door and materials are removed from site and recycled where possible. We always leave your home nice and tidy too. It’s something we have always prided ourselves on.

A recent installation of high quality, side hinged doors for a customer in Audenshaw, Tameside. The door was installed onto an alluminium floor threshold that comes with these doors so that there are no gaps underneath. The doors close against weather seals all around the doors to keep it fully insulated. The thresholds also help if there is a slight slope of the drive.

Side hinged doors are still very popular for a lot of people. These Select garage doors are of a very high standard, featuring a solid locking system and very sturdy hinges that you cannot tamper with. The doors come in their own steel frame, which reduces the need for any timber frames and gaps around the doors.

As you can see from the work in progress pictures, we started by removing the old door and timber frame to leave us with an empty opening. We decide on the ideal fitting position of the door and then start to lay out the floor threshold with the aid of a laser level. Garage doors need to be installed level, but we find many floors are not as level. So to keep the gap under the door to a minimum, this is an ideal solution. It is cemented in with a nice solid mix and then we slope it neatly to meet the floor. The threshold sits on the floor at its highest end and is the perfectly leveled across.

When the threshold is fixed into place, we can then install the door using strong fixings to the brickwork. The job is finished off with uPVC trims around the frame and neatly sealed to the brickwork. The door also features “door stays” that hold the doors open and are simple to release. The handle and lock are sturdy stainless steel and the finish on the doors is a nice silk type finish.

Carteck sectional doors, Preston

We recently installed these two Carteck sectional garage doors for a customer in Preston. They look stunning with the window option chosen and the customer was very happy with these gorgeous modern and fully automatic garage doors.

The old type of door shown in the picture is firstly dismantled and removed from the garages. Everything we remove is disposed of responsibly and steel etc mostly gets recycled. We can then go about preparing the brickwork openings, removing any old sealants and paint.

The new doors can then start to be installed. We start with the framework of the new Carteck doors and then the track system. The panels are the last item we install and we are always careful to set our doors up correctly so that everything runs smoothly. We also take great care with our pcv work on the front of the garages too and we take pride in our finishing touches.

Carteck sectional garage doors are very simple to use. Each door comes with two remote controls as standard and the doors will open at the press of a button. Each remote also has multiple buttons, meaning that we can code both doors into each remote, so the customer can open any of the doors with any remote control. Extra remotes or internal push buttons are available should you need more. The doors also feature safety systems that won’t allow the door to crush anything. If the door touches an obstacle while closing, it will simply stop and reverse.

These doors are about as good as it gets in terms of quality and security. We have installed many Carteck doors over the years and our customers tell us they love them. Fully insulated and simple to use, they will keep lasting and looking great for many years.

Most types of garage doors are recommended to have a regular service to keep them working smoothly and to avoid stress on parts. We offer to service our doors annually at very reasonable prices where we spend a good bit of time cleaning and lubricating relevant parts, inspecting all fixings, checking safety system and adjusting spring tension as this can change over time. A recent installation of a Teckentrup sectional garage door for a customer in Heswall, Wirral. Sectional garage doors are amongst the finest garage doors available. This garage door was chosen in a white silk grain finish, which will stay looking nice for many years.

Our first task was the removal of the old door and timber frame. We could then clean up the brickwork of old sealants and start to plan where exactly to fit the new door within the opening. We then fixed two sturdy timbers to the brickwork for the door to be installed to. These timbers were sat off the ground by about 30mm to avoid any damp being soaked up.

We could then start to install the main framework of the door and interior track and spring systems. The tracks are supported by a number of well placed sturdy fixing points into ceiling joists and the rear of the tracks are fixed to the walls. When everything is in place, the weight and load of the door is nicely spread evenly over these fixing points.

The automation system is installed, then the panels are carefully lifted into place and the rollers and hinges are all connected. The door can then be attached to the spring system and the motor, which goes through a sequence of balancing and weighing the door to provide optimum motor operation.

While this is being done, we are also finishing off the outside of the door. The door sits behind the timber frame, we clad this frame in white (uv stable) uPVC. This gives a nice feature to the installation and helps to avoid the whole thing looking too flat. The job is then sealed up in a suitable colour, on this brickwork, we chose a buff colour (see closeup pic). We know how much people love their homes and we take pride in our work.

This door will provide many benefits over the old door. Teckentrup sectional doors are of the highest standards in door technology. The panels are fully insulated and the door seals neatly to the floor with no gaps, unlike most up and over doors require. Customers who’s garage lead into their house tell us that it makes a big difference after having an insulated garage door. The door is simple to use, with just the press of a button, the door will open/close and a temporary light on the operator with illuminate the area for a couple of minutes.

This elegant looking Teckentrup sectional door was recently fitted for a customer in the lovely area of Padfield, just near Glossop. It is a large, automatic double door in a rosewood finish.

The project was quite a transformation to the garage, which was previously a double garage with two separate doors and a stone pillar in the middle of the opening. Working alongside the builder we use, the brick pillar was taken down and relevant lintels installed so that the opening was suitable for one large automatic door.

We first had to remove all the shuttering that was boarding the opening up, after that we proceeded to install a sturdy timber frame, being careful to keep the legs off the ground, so it won’t soak up water and rot at the bottom. This frame was eventually covered neatly in rosewood uPCV and sealed off from the weather.

The Teckentrup sectional door was chosen due to it being able to handle such large garage door opening. These garage doors are of the highest quality and have many handy features, such as being well insulated and closing to the floor, so there is no gap under the door like with an up and over door. They are highly secure and feature an internal light when in use and stays on for a couple of minutes. The system is built to last, and with some simple maintenance will last many years.

As you can see from the pictures, Teckentrup sectional door are usually divided into four panels which are hinged and open into a track system in the garage, the spring system is divided into a number of separate springs to avoid too much tension on them.

We find that customers love these doors once installed. They are a good choice for anyone wanting extra security or looking to keep the house warmer if the garage leads into it, or if there are rooms above. Feedback tells us that these doors do indeed make a difference.
