Garage door servicing and repairs
Here at Pennine Garage Doors, as well as installing your garage door for you, we also provide our customers with garage door servicing and maintenance, as well as repairs. We are committed to after-sales, as we know it's important for customers that they can contact us if any problems arise.
All of the garage door types we supply and install are of high quality, we will not deal in products that are known to fade in colour over time for instance. We offer a wide range of doors from simple manual types, to large automated, insulated doors. As most doors are mechanical by nature, they do require a certain amount of maintenance to keep them working smoothly and looking smart on your home.
Most manufacturers also stipulate that to honour the warranty on the door, that it will require periodic servicing, this is important on automatic doors. That is why we offer all of our customers an affordable annual service to keep your door working smoothly and looking like new. Prices depend on door type, but we keep our service call prices as low as we can for you.
Whether it is a manual up and over door, a roller door, or a highly secure sectional door, regular servicing keeps all parts of the door working in harmony. This avoids wear and tear and saves potential costs in the future.
Below are examples of what work is carried out on different door types. The whole installation and fixings are all checked/tightened on any service and the door washed and cleaned, we also clean any surrounding uPVC:
Manual up and over doors benefit from having the spring tension adjusted yearly, as springs lose a bit of tension over time, we adjust them so that they open with ease and don't put strain on other parts. There are also multiple oiling points and tweaks to latches etc. It will keep the door doing most of the work itself while opening and closing, correct spring tension also helps to keep the door safely in its open position if windy.
Automatic roller door manufacturers require safety systems to be inspected and we also inspect alarms if featured on the door. The safety edge batteries are replaced, which is important to keep the door working safely. Rollers are adjusted and lubricated and we also change any remote control batteries. Then we clean the whole door, including in between the laths where dirt might gather.
Automatic sectional doors benefit hugely from regular services. The operator on these types of doors actually weighs the door and spring tension when initially setup. If spring tension is not added over time, the operator is pulling more than it should and could wear out over time. So we often tweak the spring tension and send the operator through its "learning" phase after the door is serviced, keeping it nicely balanced. We find that weather effects subtle settings and we adjust the rollers etc so they are not too tight in the tracks. All of the tracks are cleaned too and various parts lubricated lightly with engine oil. This keeps the door and parts working smoothly and quietly. Safety tests are also carried out and remote batteries renewed.
You can see by the "before and after" photos just how well doors and the surrounding uPVC will clean up. We spend a good hour or more on a typical door to service and clean it properly.
Our service customers also benefit from discounts and savings on any repairs if required in the future. We offer a repair service on doors we have fitted or have been fitted by someone else. We realise that people need access to cars and other items in their garage and will help as soon as we can.
Please get in touch if you would like to know more, or to arrange for your door to be serviced. We are always happy to help.
