Hörmann vertical rib door, Denton, Tameside.

A recently installed up-and-over (canopy) garage door for a customer in our local Denton area. Chosen in a vertical rib style, in white, this type of door is often our entry level in terms of price. These doors do not compromise on quality though. Hörmann are one of the leaders in garage door technology, these German made doors and built to last and installed by our team with care to make it a great addition to your home.

The old door and timber frame were removed first on this job, so we are left with a brickwork opening, which is cleaned up and then the new door lifted into place. The steel door and frame are integral, which not only eliminated the need of a timber frame, but is also a big security improvement on old door types. Before we could fit the door on this job however, we needed some attention to the floor level.

As you might notice from the pictures. The floor is quite a lot out of level and the door has to be fitted "level". Normally if the floor is just a little out of level (most are) that is acceptable and it just means a varying gap under the door, we can also fit a rubber weatherstrip for the door to close against to take up these small amounts of gaps. This floor needed something a bit different though and we installed an aluminium floor threshold, which the door sits on top of and then the underneath gets filled in with a very stiff mix of mortar to take up the difference in floor level. Without digging lots of the floor and drive up and turning the whole thing into a huge job, this is an option we have for our customers.

Once the door was in place, level and plumb, we could then fix it into place and finish the outside off in white uPVC. A new steel lintel had to be also put in place before the job could be done, so we neatly covered that with a soffit and fascia board and also lined the internal walls to cover up the old stained brickwork where the previous frame was. This creates a nice boxed in look to the door and is very simple to clean with just warm, soapy water. No more painting required!

A recent installation by our team of a Hörmann sectional, automatic garage door for a customer in Diggle, Oldham. The door was chosen in white silk grain finish, with a black frame to compliment the front door colours. We had some nice weather and lovely views on this job too 🙂

We started by removing the old door which had an old garage door operator and was in need of replacing. Unlike the old door, this new Hörmann sectional door is fully insulated. It opens vertically which means a car can be parked close to the door due to it having no kick-out. The door has a heavy duty bottom rubber seal that provides a barrier to the floor to stop any weather and leaves gathering in the garage (a common problem with up and over doors).

After removing the old door and frame, we cleaned up the stonework opening and could then start to build up the framework and tracks of the new sectional door. Great care is taken so that the frame and tracks are all level, plumb and fixed securely. When the track system is fitted, we can then install the actual garage door panels and link them to the spring system and operating system.

A Hörman Supramatic automation system was used to power this door, they are highly reliable and very simple to use. All you have to do is push a button on your remote control fob. Other features of this door include a safety system that will stop and reverse if the door comes into contact with anything. This is to avoid any accidents with automated doors. As mentioned, they are insulated and this customer will notice that the room above the door will benefit from this too, for example.

We provide a service plan for any door we fit which will keep your new door and its safety featured maintained on an annual or bi-annual basis, including a full check of all door features, fixings, lubrication and door cleaning. All garage door require a certain amount of attention to keep them running smooth and avoiding stress on parts etc.

Our team recently installed these classic looking Hörmann sectional doors for two neighbors in Strines, Marple. Both had decided to upgrade the original up and over doors that were on the houses. The doors were chosen as a matching pair in the colour of anthracite grey.

These top of the range doors have many benefits over the previous manual doors that they replaced. As well as being automatic, they are also much more secure and fully insulated. Due to the way sectional doors operate, there is no kick out of the door, so a car can be parked close up to the door. The doors also seal to the floor, there is no need for gaps like a manual door requires.

The doors were installed over two days to our usual high standards. All of the old doors and framework was removed from site (to be recycled). Each door was finished off on the outside with matching anthracite uPVC, which frames each door off nicely.

Hörmann Georgian garage door, Marple

Installation of a Hörmann Georgian style garage door for a customer in Marple, Stockport. Chosen in white, this is a manual up-and-over door that is a popular choice with our customers.

The old doors we removed were a pair of wooden side hinged doors that had become worn and awkward to use. The customer had just moved into the house and this door is a great addition to their new home. We were even complimented by neighbors after fitting the door. We take pride in our work and it's nice when people notice.

Hömann canopy doors are very solid steel doors that operate manually with ease. They are also available as automated doors if there is room inside the garage for the operator etc. Extra locking points can be added to the door at a small cost, but even with standard locking points, these doors are very secure.

The powder coated paint finish on this white door is durable and UV stable, so it won't fade or go yellow over time, like some of the cheaper doors out there. We will not sell or install any products that don't meet a certain standard we expect.

The "work in progress" photo shows the door wedged into place after being set out nice and level and central in the opening of where we needed to fit it. The door is then fixed on the inside to the brickwork using solid brackets and fixing that are supplied with the door.

The outside can then be trimmed around the frame with matching uPVC trims and fascia board. The whole job is then neatly sealed up, which we always do using masking tape to leave a nice tidy line. This job was sealed in a rosewood colour which won't look dirty over time like white sealant can.

We cover a large area in the North West. This installation was for a customer in Wallasey, Wirral, who are in the process of modernising their home. This stylish looking Hörmann automatic sectional door was chosen.

It is one of many design options available with sectional doors. This design is known as a T-ribbed, style 500, with divided inlays in stainless steel. The inlays are also available in wood effect and can be partial (like this door), or can run across the whole door. There are many other design options with sectional doors, such as round or square windows. There are also many colour options available, which allows you to choose the perfect door for your home.

This door was installed in a day by our team, who take great care in ensuring our products are installed to a high quality. We want you to be happy with your choice of door, so we like to finish jobs neatly and pride ourselves in being tidy.

Sectional doors are a good choice if you require a garage door to be insulated and seal to the floor. Many garages lead into houses and these doors make a big difference in keeping the weather out. They are also very secure and have durable, UV stable finishes. Most sectional doors we fit are automated, which means there is no need for a handle on the front, so there is nothing to tamper with. All automated doors feature back-up functionality as a manual door in the event of a power cut.

This installation was finished off on the outside with matching pvc trims around the frame and we capped the exposed steel lintel off with matching pvc flatboard too.
