Side hinge doors have come a long way since most houses had them, before up and over doors etc. Most were heavy timber door that would need constant painting and would swell with weather causing them to stick. There are no such issues with these modern side hinge doors. Made from steel, they come in their own steel frame and in a variety of designs and colours. This door is split in the middle, you can also order the door with the split to the left or right. So that you have a small door and a larger one.

The doors are simple to use and have some good features, such as its solid locking mechanism that can be locked from either side and strong drop bolts. Each door has a “door stay” that will hold the door in the open position until its released. This door was also fitted on an alluminium floor threshold. This is for when floors are not very level and keeps the gap under the door to a minium. It means having a small bump in the floor, but this is often better than a gap that gets bigger as the floor tapers off.

When we install our doors, all of the old door is taken out and any brickwork stained by the previous sealant or paint is cleaned up. Doors are always fitted level and plumb and set up so they are easy to use. All jobs are finished off neatly with matching uPVC trims to finish the framing off and sealed up to brickwork. All old materials are removed from site and disposed off responsibly. Side hinge doors are still popular with some customers for various reasons.

Recently installed by ourselves, this fully automatic roller door was installed for a customer in Heswall in the Wirral. Chosen in a colour to match other features on the house, we think it compliments the customers home nicely.

Made by Hörmann, a leader in garage doors, this Rollmatic T automatic roller door has some nice features and many of our customers who have automatic doors fitted by us often tell us it is one of the best things they have bought. We hear this lots when going back to service garage doors, it’s a nice compliment and shows that people feel the benefits of the insulation and ease of use.

As well as being fully automated, Hörmann Rollmatic T doors are fully insulated and seal to the floor nicely with a rubber seal on the bottom of the door curtain. If the floor is uneven, we can also fit a rubber weather seal on the floor (as shown in picture). The door closes on the front edge of the floor seal and creates a nice seal against weather and cold. They are very durable and help to protect the bottom of the door too.

Operating the door is as simple as just pressing a button on a remote control, two remotes are supplied as standard. You can also operate the door from the internal control box that is installed inside the garage at the side of the door. The control box also has a light on it that will come on when the door is in use to provide some light in the garage, it stays on for a few minutes too. The door has a built in safety system that will kick in if the door touches an obstacle while closing.

As you can see by the photos, we take great care when installing our doors. We are also careful when we remove the old doors and frame etc. All materials are removed from site by us and recycled where possible. We also leave your home nice and tidy, as we understand that mess left by tradesmen is not a nice thing to deal with. We want you to enjoy your new door and not have to worry about tidying up.

The door itself and frame is mainly sturdy aluminium. The door laths have a thick insulation in between the aluminium. We offer an service plan to our customers to help maintain the garagee door too. The prices are reasonable for this and we find it helps to keep the door working and looking like new. The whole installation is checked, components and door cleaned thoroughly, safety system checked and any batteries changed etc. Manufacturers like this to be done too, to help keep the warranty valid.

A recent installation of a Teckentrup sectional garage door for a customer in Heswall, Wirral. Sectional garage doors are amongst the finest garage doors available. This garage door was chosen in a white silk grain finish, which will stay looking nice for many years.

Our first task was the removal of the old door and timber frame. We could then clean up the brickwork of old sealants and start to plan where exactly to fit the new door within the opening. We then fixed two sturdy timbers to the brickwork for the door to be installed to. These timbers were sat off the ground by about 30mm to avoid any damp being soaked up.

We could then start to install the main framework of the door and interior track and spring systems. The tracks are supported by a number of well placed sturdy fixing points into ceiling joists and the rear of the tracks are fixed to the walls. When everything is in place, the weight and load of the door is nicely spread evenly over these fixing points.

The automation system is installed, then the panels are carefully lifted into place and the rollers and hinges are all connected. The door can then be attached to the spring system and the motor, which goes through a sequence of balancing and weighing the door to provide optimum motor operation.

While this is being done, we are also finishing off the outside of the door. The door sits behind the timber frame, we clad this frame in white (uv stable) uPVC. This gives a nice feature to the installation and helps to avoid the whole thing looking too flat. The job is then sealed up in a suitable colour, on this brickwork, we chose a buff colour (see closeup pic). We know how much people love their homes and we take pride in our work.

This door will provide many benefits over the old door. Teckentrup sectional doors are of the highest standards in door technology. The panels are fully insulated and the door seals neatly to the floor with no gaps, unlike most up and over doors require. Customers who’s garage lead into their house tell us that it makes a big difference after having an insulated garage door. The door is simple to use, with just the press of a button, the door will open/close and a temporary light on the operator with illuminate the area for a couple of minutes.

Pennine Garage Doors cover a large area in the North West, this job involved a trip to the seaside and the lovely area of Heswall. We had a nice sunny day and some stunning views looking over towards N.Wales.

We replaced the old garage door that had seen better days with a nice new Hormann Marquess style door, which suits the property well and is much easier to use. Hormann doors are very secure and long lasting. You can also add extras to your door, such as an insulation pack that fits on the rear of the door, or extra locking bars, either of which can be added to your door at a later date if required.

You might also notice from our “recent work” photographs just how tidy we like to leave our jobs. We know it is annoying to have to tidy up after having any work done, so we respect any property like we would our own.
