Select side-hinged doors, Great Sutton, Wirral.

A pair of black side-hinged garage doors, made by Select and installed by our team. These doors were fitted for a customer in Great Sutton to replace a pair of timber side hinge doors.

The Select range of side-hinge doors are made of steel and come in their own steel frame, this door has a white frame and we also used white uPCV trims and fascia to give the door a nice framing from the outside, this also matches the style of the front door of the house.

The doors are simple to use and feature high security locks. There are internal and external handles and locks, meaning you can lock the door from the inside without needing your key. The locking is very secure for your peace of mind. "Door stays" are also included, to keep the door from closing on it's own etc.

Side hinge doors can be made to suit your needs. The doors can be split in the middle, as this customer chose, or split to one side, so that one door is larger than the other. This is handy for people who mainly use the door as a personel door.

Maintaining the doors is much easier than having to paint them and coping with timber swelling and doors sticking etc. We removed all the timber from this opening including the old frame. A wipe over with some soapy water now and then will keep the door and surrounding frame looking nice and new.

Garage renovation in Great Sutton, Wirral.

This large recent job for a customer in Great Sutton involved a full garage renovation, the garage was very long and was to be reduced in size to make room for a larger garden.

After initial contact and discussions with Frank, who is our representative for the Wirral (and dear friend), it was decided that a large part of the front of the garage would be removed, a new Firestone rubber roof was to be fitted, as well as a new pair of steel side-hinged garage doors and a personel door on the side of the garage. Rigorous surveys were carried out alongside our builder to make sure everything went smoothly. We used our own electrician for all electrical jobs too (thanks Syd!).

The first step on the job was for our trusty builder Steve Hartle to remove the old garage roof, take the brickwork back to the desired length of the garage and create an opening for the new garage door. A skip was arranged on site for this work. The rear of the garage was also cleared to make easy access there too.

After this work was completed, our team at Pennine turned up to fit the new roof and doors to the newly altered garage. The fitting work was completed over two days. We first started work on the rubber coated Firestone roof. We take great care when fitting our roofs so that there are no problems such as drainage, puddling of water or leaks etc. Firestone rubber roofs are a very good, long lasting product, so it is important they are fitted properly.

We plan on doing a more detailed blog on our website to look at how we fit this roof system. The roof shown here drained from left to right (looking from front) and also from the front to back, so we installed the new guttering to the right side and rear where the water will run off. There is a small rim on the front and left side of the roof to prevent water running off there.

New uPVC fascias were fitted on all sides of the garage and we installed a new side hinged garage door and side personel door made by Select Garage Doors. Both doors are made out of steel, are highly secure and built to last. After finishing the job with various uPVC trims and sealants, we left the site tidy as we always do and now the customer can plan on what to do with all the space gained...

We think you'll agree that this garage renovation is quite a transformation and shows what can be achieved to suit a customers requirements.

Pennine Garage Doors recently fitted this classic Georgian style Hormann garage door for a customer in Great Sutton, Ellesmere Port. Chosen to match the house window design.

The old door was removed, as well as all the old timber frame (which we removed from site), leaving us with just the brickwork opening. Then we can clean up the brickwork of any old paint and sealants. We see a lot of jobs where this isn't done and you can see the remains of sealant or paint from the old door on the brickwork. We always try to minimize this happening as it only ruins the look of your nice new door.

The new Hormann canopy door comes in it's own sturdy steel frame. Once the door is fitted, we then use upvc trims around the frame to give a neat finish and seal around the job with a sealant colour that best matches the brickwork. We avoid using white sealant on brickwork as you tend to see a wobbly line where the mortar lines are, darker colours help to avoid the sealant from standing out. This job was sealed up in a neutral "buff" brown colour.

The door is operated manually with very little effort and is simple to clean and maintain. As the door is made of steel with upvc surrounding trims, the whole surface can be easily cleaned with soapy water to keep everything looking brand new. This also means than no more painting is required, phew!
