We recently installed this white Hormann garage door in a classic Countess style for a customer in the lovely village of Charlesworth, Derbyshire.

The customer has recently had a new resin floor laid around the outside of the garage, so this new door finished the space off nicely. The old door was fitted into a timber frame, we removed both the door and frame and cleaned up the stonework ready for the new door.

New Hormann doors come in their own steel frame, this not only saves on painting and maintaining wood, it also helps with security, as the gaps around the door are minimised to avoid any tampering with the door. We fit the door in the opening and then clad over the frame using high quality uPVC trims and fascia board (as shown in the closeup picture). This leaves a surface that is easy to clean and maintain by simply using warm, soapy water to give it all a quick wipe over. Doing this every now and then will keep the installation looking as good as new.

After fixing the door and making final adjustments to locking and spring tension (to make the door safe and easy to use), we sealed up the whole job in a suitable "buff" coloured sealant to match the stonework.

Hormann vertical door in red, New Mills

This Hormann vertical ribbed style door was fitted for a customer in New Mills. It is a custom RAL colour, in a red that matches the front door of the house.

As always, we removed the old door and took it away with us to be recycled too. The new Hormann door comes in its own steel frame, which we clad in white uPVC to give a nice contrast and to also match the colours of the front door.

Breaking colours up between a garage door and frame is something to sometimes consider with coloured doors. We are always happy to advise customers on such decisions based on our years of experience. This garage door was fitted onto a house that is in the process of being renovated. The customer had knocked a row of their old garages down and built a nice new single large garage. The door is automated, so it will now be much easier to drive a car in and out.

This door was chosen in anthracite grey as a contrast to new white windows that will be fitted on the house. Often, a contrast in colour is a good choice when there is lots of the same colour on a house. We set the door off in a white frame and clad around it in white uPVC.

AlluGuard roller door. Hadfield, Glossop

This project in a lovely part of Glossop near Hadfield involved replacing old large hinging doors with a more practical solution. The garage opens out onto a cobbled busy road, which means any doors that open outwards are unsuitable. The customer chose to have a remote control roller door fitted, as well as blanking off the side entrance door, which wasn't required anymore.

First we removed the old timber doors and prepared the opening. Due to steep drop on the right hand side of the opening, the door didn't need to fill the whole width, so we built a large solid timber studding at the side of the door to help fill the area and to fix the door to.

The side entrance door was removed and a solid timber studding was made to fill the opening. The front of both studdings were clad in anthracite upvc and we covered the rear in plywood which can be painted if required.

The customer was very happy with the finished result (thanks for the brews!) and this door is now much easier to use and maintain. The door features a somfy control box and motor which has five year warranty. The door also has its own integral alarm system and a courtesy light on the control box when in use.

Simmondley afterA recently fitted AlluGuard roller garage door in Simmondley, Glossop. Not only does the door give the customers house a nice fresh look, it is fully automated and much easier to use than the old manual door.

Simmondly keypadThe door comes with two remote controls as standard and is fitted with its own integral alarm system. It is powered by a Somfi Gemini motor which carries a five year warranty.

We carry a range of extras for garage doors and this customer chose to have an external keypad fitted too. This allows you to open your door by tapping in your own entry code, which is useful when a remote is not at hand.
