Hörmann canopy door, Tameside

Hörmann canopy garage door, Tameside

Recently installed by our team, this “chartwell green” up-and-over style garage door was chosen to match other features of the same colour on the house. The previous white door is shown in the pictures below to show the difference this lovely installation has made.

Hörmann canopy doors (up and over) are much better than the older types of door we often replace. Made of steel and avaialable in a wide range of styles and colours, these doors are very secure and come in their own steel frame. This reduces the gaps around the door often required with older doors fitted into timber frames. We also fitted a weatherseal to the floor which is optional but closes the gap under the door and keeps weather and leaves out. The door shuts snuggly against the lip on the weatherseal.

With this new door, the timber frame is not needed. So our first job is to remove the door itself in a safe manner (customers should never try to remove a door, due to spring tension that can be dangerous). Then we can remove the timber frame and clean up the brickwork opening of any old sealants etc. We can then lift the new door and frame into place as one unit.

The door is set out neatly in its opening, being careful to fit it level and plumb, so the door operates as it should. Once we are happy with its position, we can fix it into place with the sturdy fixings provided. We then clad the frame in uPVC to neatly frame the door. This also makes it easy to clean and no more painting frames! Lastly the job is neatly sealed up and we always tidy up and remove old materials and the old door from site.

Hörmann canopy door and very easy to operate when setup correctly, we can also provide a service on the door periodically to maintain the spring tension and keep it clean plus lubricated.

Hörman Rollmatic T, Stalybridge

Hörman Rollmatic T roller door, Stalybridge

A lovely “Chartwell green” coloured, fully automatic roller door fitted with our usual care and attention for a customer in Stalybridge. The door is made by Hörman and is known as the Rollmatic T.

We are finding our customers are really liking their roller doors we install for them. We get lots of feedback due to many having doors serviced and cleaned yearly which keeps them like new. From heat retention in the house or simple ease of use, we are always happy to hear the people are pleased. The doors are fully insulated and fully automated. You get two remote controls with the door and operating the door is as simple as pushing a button. We can also supply Hörman remote control wall buttons for the inside of your house which customers find handy too.

This door was fitted onto a tough aluminium floor threshold due to the floor being slightly out of level, which is often the case. Garage doors should be fitted level, so this solution is great in these situations or if there is a difference in the internal and external floor levels. The door has a sturdy rubber seal at the bottom that creates a nice seal with the threshold. We point the difference in with a tought mix of cement as you can see in the photos.

The door also features an internal control box with buttons to operate the door and a handy internal light that will come on when the door is in use and stay on for a couple of minutes to provide some light. All of our automated doors feature safety systems that will not allow the door to crush anything. If the door touches an obstacle it will stop and reverse.

After our careful installation of the door, we used white uPVC to encase and frame it nicely giving a contrast. Then sealed everything in matching sealants. Your old door and materials are removed from site and recycled. We also leave your home nice and tidy. We are a family business and have kept our good reputation over the years by these simple gestures.

Hörman roller doors come in a wide range of colours to suit any home. If you would like more information, you can view the brochure here.

Hörmann sectional doors, Glossop

Hörmann sectional doors, Glossop, Derbyshire

Recently installed by Pennine Garage Doors for a customer in one of our main areas, lovely Glossop in Derbyshire. Chosen in a gorgeous chartwell green colour, we think you’ll agree that these doors look fantastic.

Fully automatic and operated with just the press of a remote control, these doors are of very high quality and at the top end of garage door types. The old doors that were replaced were manual up and over doors. The customer will notice quite a difference with these new doors, Hörmann sectional doors are fully insulated and with the garage being part of the house, it will help with retaining heat and due to the doors having a sturdy rubber seal on the bottom, the doors seal to the floor nicely. There are no gaps around the doors, so no more leaves and weather blowing under them.

The old doors and materials removed are recycled and disposed of responsibly by us. As you can see by the pictures. Once we have an empty brickwork opening, we can then install the frame and track system to the door, taking care that everything is level and plumb etc. We have lots of experience fitting these doors and know how to set them up just right.

Finally the panels are inserted and motors fitted. We also use uPVC trims around the door to frame it neatly and seal the job in a suitable colour of sealant. Other feature of these doors include a safety system which will kick in as soon as the door touches an obstacle, the door will simply stop and reverse. There is a light in the operator which will light up while the door is in use and stay on for a couple of minutes to provide some light in the garage. Two remotes are supplied as standard.

We recommend a yearly service on most doors we install, this is more important on automatic doors. We offer an affordable service that includes fixings being checked and components cleaned and lubricated on the door, which all helps to keep spring balance and operators from coming under strain. We clean the door too and find it keeps doors just like new for years to come.

Garador, Salisbury style doors, Glossop

Garador, Salisbury garage doors, Glossop

These manual, canopy doors look stunning in the colours chosen by the customer in Glossop. The colour is “Chartwell Green” and the style of door is known as the Salisbury. This style of door mimics the design of authentic side hinge opening doors and looks well on homes that have that classic look.

As you can see from the picture, our first task is removing the old garage doors and any timber frames. We are then left with a brick/stone opening that we clean up of any old sealants etc. The doors can then be lifted into place and wedged while we get the doors central and level. It is also important when fitting a pair of doors like these, that they line up nicely together. Floor levels can differ. Although on this garage, the floor and wall levels were good, which means the doors sit nicely together.

Garador have a great reputaion in garage doors and their canopy doors are robust and secure. Multi point locking points are provided as standard and more can be added as optional. We set our manual doors up so that they are very easy to use and will pretty much do most of the lifting for you. A periodic service keeps the doors and spring balance in harmony and we can provide this service at a small cost to our customers, with most having an annual service and a good cleaning on the doors.

The doors are made of steel and come in their own sturdy steel frames. This means there are no gaps around the door and no more timber frames to paint. This job was neatly framed using black uPVC, which sets the colour of the doors off nicely.
