We recently installed this double sized sectional garage door for a customer in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Manufactured by Carteck, this type of garage door is a top of the range automatic door with many benefits and features.

As per usual, we take care with our installations and its always nice to have a nicely built, level opening such as this garage has. We start by removing the old door (if there is one), we remove all materials off site and recycle where we can. We can then clean up the brickwork opening of any old sealants etc.

The door can then be installed, with a sectional door the framework is the first to go in, making sure everything is level, plumb and fixed well. The track system and springs are added and the last component to be installed are the panels themselves. Sectional doors comprise of four horizontal panels that are hinged and open opwards and inwards on a track system. You can see a demonstration here.

Any finishing off trims and sealing up is also done on the outside of the door too. Sectional garage doors are very secure and are fully insulated. We have good feedback from customers with rooms adjoining the garage that they notice a big difference with insulation. The door has a sturdy rubber seal that comes into contact with the floor too.

Like with all automatic doors, there is a built in safety system that kicks in if the door comes into contact with an obstacle during operation. The door will simply stop and reverse. Other features includes an internal light that stays on during use and for a short while afterwards. Two remote controls are supplied as standard and we can supply other solutions such as remote, wall mounted push buttons. The customer can download an app to a smartphone too and operate the door via their phone.

We recently installed this pair of side hinged garage doors for a customer in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Chosen in anthracite grey to match the windows and door on the house. The doors are made by Carteck and fitted by ourselves at Pennine Garage Doors.

Side hinged doors have come a long way since the old timber type that would swell and rot over time. These Carteck doors and the frames are made from sturdy aluminium. The panels are insulated between the aluminium too which creates a solid barrier to weather and helps to keep the house warm. The doors are installed onto an aluminium floor threshold, which means the gaps around the door are kept to a minimum.

There are many neat features on these doors, such as easy to use door stays to keep the doors open when in use, the windows are a scratch reistant polymer material and the handle is high grade stainless steel. Carteck side hinged doors feature a multi-point locking system, giving the doors high security for peace of mind and they close with a reassuring clunk. The hinges are also made to be tamper proof and of high quality.

We take great care when installing our garage doors. This installation was neatly finished off with a matching trim across the top and then we used a cement based sealant in a tube to point in the sides where the stonework is. We find this gives a nice finish that matches the pointing on the stonework and doesn’t stand out like silicone sealant would.

We recently installed these two Carteck sectional garage doors for a customer in Preston. They look stunning with the window option chosen and the customer was very happy with these gorgeous modern and fully automatic garage doors.

The old type of door shown in the picture is firstly dismantled and removed from the garages. Everything we remove is disposed of responsibly and steel etc mostly gets recycled. We can then go about preparing the brickwork openings, removing any old sealants and paint.

The new doors can then start to be installed. We start with the framework of the new Carteck doors and then the track system. The panels are the last item we install and we are always careful to set our doors up correctly so that everything runs smoothly. We also take great care with our pcv work on the front of the garages too and we take pride in our finishing touches.

Carteck sectional garage doors are very simple to use. Each door comes with two remote controls as standard and the doors will open at the press of a button. Each remote also has multiple buttons, meaning that we can code both doors into each remote, so the customer can open any of the doors with any remote control. Extra remotes or internal push buttons are available should you need more. The doors also feature safety systems that won’t allow the door to crush anything. If the door touches an obstacle while closing, it will simply stop and reverse.

These doors are about as good as it gets in terms of quality and security. We have installed many Carteck doors over the years and our customers tell us they love them. Fully insulated and simple to use, they will keep lasting and looking great for many years.

Most types of garage doors are recommended to have a regular service to keep them working smoothly and to avoid stress on parts. We offer to service our doors annually at very reasonable prices where we spend a good bit of time cleaning and lubricating relevant parts, inspecting all fixings, checking safety system and adjusting spring tension as this can change over time. The doors also get a thorough clean. This helps to avoid strain on parts, like the motor and will keep your garage doors working and looking just like new.

A recent installation of a pair of side hinged garage doors for a customer in Haughton Green, Denton. Made by CarTeck, Teckentrup, these doors are of a very high standard and very easy to use.

Unlike timber side hinged doors, these doors from CarTeck do not require a timber frame, the steel frame on these doors are part of the unit that is made to measure to the garage opening size. They don’t require any gaps around the door either, they are fully insulated and come with an aluminium floor threshold that is bonded to the floor. This gives a perfectly level surface for the door, with no gabs underneath.

This door was chosen with an off-centre split but you can also have the door split in the middle (like this recent post shows). CarTeck side hinged doors can be ordered with or without windows and there are numerous window options to choose from to suit any features on your home.

The handle and locking system on these doors are also very good and the doors close with a reassuring click. The doors feature easy to use door-stays that release by simply pushing the door a little bit further open. The finish is very durable and unlike old timber doors, nothing needs painting. The door can be wiped down with soapy water and will stay looking like new.

A recent installation of a Teckentrup sectional garage door for a customer in Heswall, Wirral. Sectional garage doors are amongst the finest garage doors available. This garage door was chosen in a white silk grain finish, which will stay looking nice for many years.

Our first task was the removal of the old door and timber frame. We could then clean up the brickwork of old sealants and start to plan where exactly to fit the new door within the opening. We then fixed two sturdy timbers to the brickwork for the door to be installed to. These timbers were sat off the ground by about 30mm to avoid any damp being soaked up.

We could then start to install the main framework of the door and interior track and spring systems. The tracks are supported by a number of well placed sturdy fixing points into ceiling joists and the rear of the tracks are fixed to the walls. When everything is in place, the weight and load of the door is nicely spread evenly over these fixing points.

The automation system is installed, then the panels are carefully lifted into place and the rollers and hinges are all connected. The door can then be attached to the spring system and the motor, which goes through a sequence of balancing and weighing the door to provide optimum motor operation.

While this is being done, we are also finishing off the outside of the door. The door sits behind the timber frame, we clad this frame in white (uv stable) uPVC. This gives a nice feature to the installation and helps to avoid the whole thing looking too flat. The job is then sealed up in a suitable colour, on this brickwork, we chose a buff colour (see closeup pic). We know how much people love their homes and we take pride in our work.

This door will provide many benefits over the old door. Teckentrup sectional doors are of the highest standards in door technology. The panels are fully insulated and the door seals neatly to the floor with no gaps, unlike most up and over doors require. Customers who’s garage lead into their house tell us that it makes a big difference after having an insulated garage door. The door is simple to use, with just the press of a button, the door will open/close and a temporary light on the operator with illuminate the area for a couple of minutes.
