A recent installation for a customer in our local area of Stalybridge, where we have many happy customers. This is a fully automatic roller door supplied by our long time supplier Hörmann and fitted by ourselves.

Due to the nature of the high brickwork opening and the original door with the one big window above (see photo), we replicated it but with a solid double glazed unit. We work alongside trusted local companies for any windows or front doors required. We think you’ll agree this is quite a transformation and customers tell us that an automatic door is one of the best things they have bought for their home.

Most old garage doors become awkward to use and sometimes can become a danger too. We stress that people should NOT tamper with their own garage door springs or mechanisms, as this can cause serious injury if the correct procedures are not followed. This old door was safely removed first of all and the window too, then we could start prepping the opening for the new door to be fitted.

All timber frames are often removed, unless they are structural etc. Modern garage doors of all types come in their own frames, so its much easier to maintain too. No more painting! This new roller door is also much easier to open. No more faffing about with locks in the rain or hitting/kicking it in the right spot on an old door just to get it open 😉

There are many other benefits to this door too. It is fully insulated and doesn’t require gaps around it. Which is a huge improvement if the garage leads into the house or has rooms above. The door comes with two remotes as standard, optional internal buttons you can have in the home are available too. The door has a control box in the garage you can operate it with too and a light that comes on when the door is in use and stays on for a short time.

Recently installed for a customer in Dukinfield, this pair of fully automatic Hörmann RollMatic-T roller doors was a huge transformation and upgrade to the old manual doors that had served their time and become awkward to use.

There are so many benefits with upgrading to an automatic door and Hörmann roller doors are of high quality, unlike some of the more flimsy, cheap roller doors out there. These doors are fully insulted and don’t require gaps around the door like manual doors do. If the garage is attached to the house or has rooms above, the insulation helps hugely to keep things warmer and the weather out.

It is also much easier and safer to drive up to your garage and just press a button on one of the two remotes provided, rather than getting out of the car to struggle unlocking and opening your garage door in bad weather for example. Each door also has its own internal control box in the garage that has a light on it. The light will come on when the door is in use and stay on for a few minutes to help illuminate the garage.

Other features include a safety system that will trigger if the door touches an object while closing. The door will stop and reverse. There is also a sturdy rubber seal on the bottom of the door that closes nicely on the floor. If floors are not level, we can install an alluminiam threshold nice and level and cemented to the floor, that the door closes on.

As you can see by the picture that shows the old white door next to the new one. We start by removing the door and its timber frame, there is no need for timber frames as these doors have their own sturdy alluminium or steel frames. This helps gives more width on the garage opening, which many customers want due to cars being wider. Where the old frames were, we neatly trim in uPVC to give the door a neat framed look.

There is also a new strap system (as shown in pic) that helps to keep the door in good condition while it rolls up on itself. We offer an affordable annual service on our doors to help maintain them and keep them like new. This includes fixing checks, safety checks, new batteries where required and a good clean of the door.

AlluGuard roller doors, Glossop

Recently installed by ourselves here at Pennine Garage Doors for a customer in Glossop. Chosen in black as a contrast to the white windows on the house, these doors look great in their white frames. Made by AlluGuard who we’ve known and dealt with for many years now. We only install good quality products, mainly becuase we like our customers to be satisfied and happy.

Most customers tell us that upgrading to an automatic door is one of the best additions they’ve made to their homes, which is nice to hear. We know the added advantages, such as ease of use, high security and insulation. This customer now only has to press a button on a remote control to operate the doors.

We always remove all of the old doors and any timber frames etc and everything is removed from site and recycled as much as we can. We clean up brickwork of any old sealants or paint and then we can install the nice new doors. The framework goes in first and curtain last. We also use matching uPVC for any trims or fascias on the front of the installation the neatly sealed up in matching sealants.

The doors each come with two remotes as standard. Other features include a safety system that if the door touches an object, it will stop and reverse. The laths are all insulated which makes a big difference if the garage leads into the house. The bottom of the door has a rubber seal that seals nicely to the floor. If the floor is uneven we can install a rubber weatherstop to the floor so the door sits on a nice flat surface.

Each door has its own internal control panel which you can control the door with too, this also has a handy light that comes on when the door is in use and stays on for a couple of minutes. We also offer to service your door yearly which manufacturers recommend. It keeps working parts clean, batteries replaced and the whole door clean. It helps to keep your door looking and working like new.

We recently installed this double sized sectional garage door for a customer in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Manufactured by Carteck, this type of garage door is a top of the range automatic door with many benefits and features.

As per usual, we take care with our installations and its always nice to have a nicely built, level opening such as this garage has. We start by removing the old door (if there is one), we remove all materials off site and recycle where we can. We can then clean up the brickwork opening of any old sealants etc.

The door can then be installed, with a sectional door the framework is the first to go in, making sure everything is level, plumb and fixed well. The track system and springs are added and the last component to be installed are the panels themselves. Sectional doors comprise of four horizontal panels that are hinged and open opwards and inwards on a track system. You can see a demonstration here.

Any finishing off trims and sealing up is also done on the outside of the door too. Sectional garage doors are very secure and are fully insulated. We have good feedback from customers with rooms adjoining the garage that they notice a big difference with insulation. The door has a sturdy rubber seal that comes into contact with the floor too.

Like with all automatic doors, there is a built in safety system that kicks in if the door comes into contact with an obstacle during operation. The door will simply stop and reverse. Other features includes an internal light that stays on during use and for a short while afterwards. Two remote controls are supplied as standard and we can supply other solutions such as remote, wall mounted push buttons. The customer can download an app to a smartphone too and operate the door via their phone.

Select, Gisburn style doors, Glossop

Recently installed by ourselves for a customer in Glossop, Derbyshire. These side hinged doors add a nice contrast to the colours on the house and are a practical solution for customers that require this type of door.

Side hinge doors are available in many different colours and styles. This style is known as the Gisburn and has an off centre split. You can also have the doors split in the middle or with the smaller door on either side, like this one. Unlike older style side hinge doors, these doors come in their own steel frames, which means there are no gaps to tamper with the door. The locking system on these Select doors is very secure and simple to operate. The hinges and hardware is very solid and tamper proof.

As with all our installations, we start by removing the old door and the old timber frame, then clean up the openings of any old sealant etc. All the old materials are removed from site by us and recycled appropriately. We can then start to carefully get the doors into position and get them central and level. This type of door usually gets installed on top of an aluminium floor threshold that bonds to the floor and allows for the minimum gap under the door.

After installing the doors. We added uPVC trims to the frame to neatly frame the job in matching white trims. Then we neatly seal up to the brickwork using a colour the blends in nicely (as shown in the close-up pic). All our jobs are left nice and tidy too.
