Hörmann canopy door, Hadfield, Derbyshire
A lovely recent installation of a Hörmann, Georgian style, canopy (manual) garage door for a customer in Hadfield, Derbyshire. Chosen in black to match the front door and framed in white, which helps to add some contrast to the whole look of the house.
As you can see by the "before" picture, the old door had become a bit tired looking and was getting harder to use, so a new Hörmann door will be much easier to use and adds the final touch to the front of the house. The old door is always removed from site and usually recycled responsibly, the old timber frame and studding above the door was also removed.
This garage opening is quite tall, so a new sturdy studding above the door was built to hold the new plain white uPVC flatboard, which looks smarted than having ridges in the cladding and is also easier to clean. As you can see from the photos, the door is installed first and then we build the studding and final clad the job in uPVC. The products we use are all high quality materials which will not discolour over time.
The garage door is always set up so that the spring is nicely balanced and easy to operate. A manual canopy door should open and close quite easily, doing most of the lifting itself. We can service your garage too periodically to help maintain the spring tension, as well as lubricating and cleaning your door. We find it keeps your garage door working and looking like new.
Hörmann canopy garage doors are much more secure than older style doors. They feature a solid multi point locking system which can also be upgraded to have more latches and locking points. Another good feature is that when the door is in the fully open position, the door gently locks into spring clips that help the door to not drop down if it is windy for example.
